Leo and Leo-Lion Awards and Recognition

Individual Awards

 

International President Award – This year, there is a special recognition opportunity available to Leo club presidents of newly formed clubs. The International President is awarding a Presidential Certificate of Appreciation to Leo club presidents when they add all of the originating Leo members to their club roster within 30 days of the club’s formation. To qualify, Leo members should be entered into the online reporting system, MyLCI.

Leos of the Year Award – A multiple district council of governors or single district (that is not part of a multiple district) may nominate one high achieving Leo each year for this medallion and certificate award. Applications must be submitted by March 1. Congratulations to all the current award recipients!

Leo Club President Achievement Award – A Leo club president who meets specific requirements during his/her year in office may be awarded this certificate by the Leo club advisor with the approval of the sponsoring Lions club president. Award criteria categories include leadership development, membership extension, administration and Leo club activities.

Leo October Membership Growth Award – Leo club advisors may present this award to any Leo who recruits three or more new members during the month of October. To obtain this award, Leo club advisors must submit the nomination form by November 15. 

Leo Award of Honor – Leos may choose to nominate a Leo member for this award to recognize outstanding accomplishments during the year. The lapel medal can be purchased from Club Supplies.

Leo Club Advisor Outstanding Service Award – The Leo club president may present this award to Leo club advisors who meet specific requirements and demonstrate outstanding service in guiding and developing their Leo clubs. Nomination forms are sent to Leo club presidents in March, certificates will be sent in May.

Leo Club Advisor Five-Year Service Award – Sponsoring Lions club presidents may honor Leo club advisors who successfully complete five years of dedicated service with this award.  Sponsoring Lions club presidents should complete and submit this application to obtain the five-year service pin and certificate.

Leo to Leo-Lion Membership Award – Special certificates are awarded to Leo club advisors who have guided  5 or more Leos from their Leo clubs to transition to Leo-Lion members between July 1 through June 30.

Leo Club Extension Award – Sponsoring Lions club presidents and Leo club advisors receive these certificates upon official certification of a new Leo club. The sponsoring Lions club can request additional certificates by emailing leo@lionsclubs.org for anyone it wishes to thank for assisting in organizing the new Leo club.

Leo Clubs and Sponsoring Lions Clubs

Leo Club Pride Award – Leo clubs that have excelled in reporting their service, member and officer information will receive the Leo Club Pride Award. Clubs who meet the following criteria based on reports in MyLCI and MyLion by June 30 will be sent the award automatically, no application necessary.

Leo Club Excellence Award – All districts may endorse one Leo club to receive this prestigious award. Submit applications by August 15. Winners will receive a banner patch and chevron in Leo colors. Congratulations to all the current award recipients!

Serving Together Award – A banner patch featuring the Leo club and Lions club logos is awarded to both the Leo club and the sponsoring Lions club for successful completion of joint projects and other types of activities supporting Leo and Lion collaboration. Award requirements are on the application.

Leo Club and Sponsoring Lions Club Anniversary Patches – The Leo Club Program can send anniversary patches to Leo clubs and their sponsoring Lions club that have achieved the fifth anniversary of their certification. Patches are sent at anniversaries in multiples of five years thereafter. To receive the anniversary patch, please complete the following form.

Leo Club Sponsorship Patch – A banner patch is issued to the sponsoring Lions club upon certification of a new Leo club.

Leo-Lion Club Sponsorship Award – Lions clubs that sponsor one or more newly chartered Leo-Lion clubs, that  are approved by Lions Clubs International between July 1 through June 30, receive a special certificate. Leo-Lion Clubs must be chartered with at least 10 charter members who are former Leos. These former Leos may transition from the same Leo club or come together from multiple Leo clubs.

Districts and Multiple Districts

Leo Multiple District President Achievement Award – A Leo multiple district president who meets specific requirements during his/her year in office may be awarded this certificate by the multiple district Leo club chairperson with the approval of the council chairperson. Award criteria categories include leadership development, club or membership extension, administration and multiple district Leo activities. 

Leo District President Achievement Award – A Leo district president who meets specific requirements during his/her year in office may be awarded this certificate by the district Leo club chairperson with the approval of the district governor. Award criteria categories include leadership development, club or membership extension, administration and district Leo activities. 

Leo Club Extension Award – Certificates are awarded to district Leo club chairpersons and Leo district presidents who achieve a net gain of three new clubs in their district, and to multiple district Leo club chairpersons and Leo multiple district presidents who achieve a net gain of five new clubs in their multiple district by June 30. Additional eligibility criteria includes that: all new Leo clubs must report all members and their five club officers in MyLCI, and at least 1 service project must be reported in MyLion in that fiscal year. 

Leo District/Multiple District Officers Pins – After appointing the officers in MyLCI, pins will automatically be sent for the Leo district/multiple district president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer. Pins are sent to the current district/multiple district Leo club chairperson.

Leo to Leo-Lion Membership Award – Special certificates are awarded to district Leo chairpersons and multiple district Leo chairpersons who have facilitated the transition of Leos to Leo-Lion members between July 1 through June 30. The following criteria applies for these awards:

• District Leo Chairpersons – Facilitate Leo to Leo-Lion membership for 15 or more Leos from  Leo clubs within their district.
• Multiple District Leo Chairpersons – Facilitate Leo to Leo-Lion membership for 30 or more Leos from any districts within their multiple district.

Leo-Lion Club Charter Award – Special certificates are awarded to district governors, district Leo chairpersons and multiple district Leo chairpersons who have facilitated the new charters  of one or more Leo-Lion clubs.  Completed charters must be approved by Lions Clubs International between July 1 through June 30. The following criteria applies for these awards:

• District Leo Chairpersons and District Governors – Facilitate one or more new Leo-Lion club charters within their district.
• Multiple District Leo Chairpersons – Facilitate one or more new Leo-Lion club charters within any of their districts.

Other Awards

LCIF Awards – Leo club members are eligible for a number of awards and recognition presented by the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF). These include a certificate of appreciation, LCIF Chairperson’s certificate, Melvin Jones Fellowship, banner patch and club plaque award. Contact LCIF for more information.

Leo-Lion Membership and Club Charter Awards – A Leo’s relationship with their future Lions club doesn't start when they become a Lion, it's throughout a Leo's experience. Your support of Leos and their service journey in the Lions organization is so important to their individual leadership development and the future of Lions Clubs International. In recognition of this support, special certificates are awarded at the club, district and multiple district levels.
